EISLER, Helena - Helena Margaret Eisler, 103 years, peacefully on October 4, 2014 at Scarborough General Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. Dear mother of Margaret (Eisler) Kipp. Dear Granny of Joanna and Helena Kyriakou. Predeceased by her husband George (June 24, 2004), brothers Ian and wife Jeannie, Duncan and wife Han, sister Louisa and husband Bob Steedman, all of Scotland, nephews Donald Stewart and wife Dorothy, George Stewart and wife May, niece Sheila and dear friend Isabel Stewart. Helena Margaret Stewart (known as Helen to all) was born at 30 Kenmore St., Aberfeldy, Perthshire, Scotland on January 15, 1911. Her parents were Donald and Margaret Stewart (nee McPhail). She was proud of the fact she descended from the McCombich Stewarts. Helen married George Eisler, a Canadian soldier, and as a war bride sailed to Canada on the Aquitania following WWII. Part of “her” WWII had been spent in the “censorship”, a distant part of MI-5. Settling into a small place on Church St. in Windsor, Ontario, they added a dog, Laddie, to their family, and later a daughter Margaret. They moved to Norman Rd. in 1949 and Helen made many friends on Norman Rd., and at St. Paul’s Church. She worked in Windsor at bookkeeping and retail, at Kresge’s, West and Sons, Belle’s, and Smeeton’s. She was active in the United Church Women, the Busy Bee Quilters at St. Paul’s, and the Trillium Club for seniors, and she was a proud member of the Scottish Society. Her friendly nature and love for friends and family will be greatly missed. Friends are invited to join the family for a graveside service at Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Mitchell, on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.
