Daughter of Alexander BOLTON & Mary Jane.

Edward & Sarah had 6 children together.

2nd marriage Lucy Mary UPTON abt 1836/37 in England. They had 2 children together.

Listed in the Petworth Immigration Scheme as immigrating to Canada from Heyshott, West Sussex, England in 1837 with his wife Mary (Lucy), & his 7 children.

1842 John Edwards was shown in the 1842 Canada Census living in Montreal with his 7 children & his wife Lucy.

In the 1851 Upper Canada Census his daughter Naomi EDWARDS was shown age 17, working as a servant in a household in Woodstock,Ontario.

She belonged to the Church of England (Anglican). She also was shown as being born in Lower Canada (Quebec).

Note! Some mix up here for Naomi's family is listed on The Petworth Immigration Scheme as immigrating to Lower Canada from Heyshott, West Sussex, England in 1837 with her father John Edwards & his 2 nd. wife Lucy Mary Upton <married 1836/37> had 1 child together.

1851 John Edwards is shown in the 1851 census living at #3 Hamilton St., Woodstock,Ontario,Canada. His occupation was shown as a brick layer. He was living with his second wife Lucy & 2 children. The youngest child being Mary Ann Edwards’s age 8 years born in Canada. The next older child William age 13 & he was born in Kent, England.

1854 John Edwards is shown purchasing Lot 6, Con. 12 Downie Township, Perth County, on Feb.17, 1854. Date of Registry 30 March 1854. Land registration # 193. He purchased 100 acres for 68 pounds, 15 shillings, 0 pence of British money at the time period.

In John Edwards Will dated June 20 1862 & executed on 27 June 1862, with George Edwards & Alfred Edwards as executors Instrument # 1634.

John Edwards died about June 1862, his will left 1/8 share of the land of lot 6, con 12 to all of his 8 children.

John Edwards bequeathed to Mary Ann Edwards (his daughter) 1/8th. part of lot 6, Con 12 commencing at the north boundary & running the whole width of said lot. John Edwards also bequeathed to Mary Ann a one acre lot at Lot 6, Con 11, Downie Townshiph,Perth County,(Woodstock), Ontario,Canada. this had been brought off James CRAWSHAY.

John also bequeathed to Mary Ann 1 Cow.

John Edwards bequeathed to his daughter Naomi Edwards 1/8 part of lot 6, concession 12, Downie Township, commencing at the southerly boundary of the 6th. part willed to Janet Jane (Edwards) Pike & running the whole width of said lot. John Edwards also bequeaths to his daughter Naomi all & singular that contain parcel or tract of land & premise situated lying & being in the town of Woodstock, in the county of Oxford containing by a measurement 5,760 square feet described in the deed as per Henry J. Burtch. John also bequeaths to his daughter Naomi his team of horses to be delivered in good condition on the 1st. day of April 1863.
